Andrew brought up a good point on my last post about worshipping technology. His comment about much of our technological advances being mostly the result of military research during the war, or the drive for more porn. Unfortunately, it is hard to disagree with him.
Of course this leads many people to the conclusion that all technology/science is inherently evil, and that we should all go back to the garden of eden days. Unfortunately, I think many of these people would be surprised that many would consider fire an early example of technology. Now, fire can be used for both good (cook food, heat our homes) and evil (burning down other peoples homes).
The same can be said of many other technologies. Nuclear fission killed untold numbers of people in WWII, but it also gives us a window into the inner workings of the universe and is a relatively cheap source of electricity. Nuclear fission is not evil, but it is what we choose to do with it.
And that is where the problem is, the choices we make of what to do with the technology. But God gave each and every one of us free will, and the ability to differentiate between right and wrong. What we have to remember is that we will all eventually be judged for the choices we have made and what we have done in our lives. I know I think about many of my choices every day.

Don't forget about GRACE! Thankfully, God is gracious and doesn't give us the full or any consequence for the aweful things we do-sometimes. Slightly different topic, but just wanted to through that out there. Ultimately, we are accountable for each and every thing we do and don't do and will have to give an account on judgement day...but again, thankfully, the major consequence-eternal separation from God-has been covered by Christ's death and resurrection. GRACE-gotta love it!
I'm not going to touch the religion side of this, I know I'm ignorant and will be destroyed....but I have to agree that technology in and of itself isn't good or evil, just like a rock isn't good or evil. Or, I'm sure you remember what Zedd said to Richard about the Sword of Truth, it isn't good or evil or anything, it just lets itself be used for whatever reason they justify it. The western world, myself included, think that Iran shouldn't have nuclear weapons, and most of us think they're evil. But looking from Iran's point of view they're justified in having them just like the other nuclear powers are, and they're using technology to protect themself. It all depends on one's point of view and set or circumstances. Technology in all of its forms can be used for good or evil depending on one's point of view. Science and tech should be used to discover and help the world, but who says what i think will help the world will do the best for the world and society. Man I love science..ain't it great.
